Have you ever returned home to a dark porch, deck, or stairway?  This can easily be changed with smart lighting where lights can be controlled from a smart phone.  In this application I used Kasa smart switches to control a porch light over a stairwell and an entryway light in the kitchen.  There are various other ways to accomplish this useful task.

Most modern smart devices and related apps will also control other devices like cameras, outlets, ceiling fans, and thermostats.  They are often compatible with other manufacturer’s devices and can be integrated into a home automation system.
